Roof spoiler – the aesthetic application of the car
Roof spoilers are not only for racecars. Roof spoilers are a common application with most passenger cars today. INEOS Styrolution offers a range of materials to develop roof spoilers to meet all kinds of needs.
Novodur HH-112 has been selected by a major European car manufacturer as the material of choice to allow his customers to customise their cars. Customers can select from a variety of colours.
Another European premium manufacturer has taken a different approach to the production of roof spoilers. His spoilers consist of two components, the upper shelf being based on Novodur H801 due to its high heat resistance and impact strength. It is an injection moulding grade specifically tailored for structural automotive parts such as spoilers. The material provides high rigidity and dimensional stability. The lower shelf is based on Luran S 778T. The key features of this material include high chemical resistance and enhanced stiffness – features that make the material interesting for mirror housings as well. In addition, Novodur ABS with glass-fibres such as Novodur P2HGV or Novodur HH-106 G1/ G2, can be used for a third component, insert, with a structural function.
StyLight Aesthetic S C245-1 is yet another option to produce spoilers from. The carbon look composite is a class of its own offering a surface quality that addresses the needs of the most demanding applications. Typical application for the material include rear-view mirror caps and exterior trim.
