Integration of INEOS ABS into Styrolution

The INEOS group began integrating INEOS ABS into its INEOS Styrolution business in the first quarter of 2015 to promote both companies’ products globally with one face to the market. The project enhances the growth strategy of both businesses.

Together stronger

INEOS Styrolution, the global leader in styrenics, and INEOS ABS, the largest fully integrated producer of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) in North America, integrated their business activities in the Americas.

Customers in the Americas now benefit from the combined strength of the standard and specialty ABS portfolios, as well as other styrenic specialties such as SAN and SMA blends. In addition, customers further profit from the polymer expertise that INEOS Styrolution, as a single company, can now offer in key customer industries, such as automotive and healthcare. This move not only enriches the standard ABS and specialty polymer offering to customers, it also establishes INEOS Styrolution as the clear market leader for ABS and SAN in the Americas.

Alexander Glück“The combination of our businesses better serves customers, who benefit from the rich product and service offerings of both companies, as well as our collective polymer expertise across key industries. I am also confident this move will continue to open up a host of new growth opportunities for both our customers and INEOS Styrolution, giving us a chance to show what ‘Driving Success. Together.’ really means.”
Alexander Glück, President Americas, INEOS Styrolution

Becoming one business

As part of the integration, core functions merged, including marketing, sales, customer service, supply chain, procurement, R&D, human resources and manufacturing. Customer advantages have thereby resulted from a combined, market-facing organization under INEOS Styrolution, offering a single source to serve their styrenics requirements.

As one business, INEOS Styrolution has benefitted from the transfer of best practices across all functions of the two companies.

Throughout the process, care was exercised to ensure that customers experienced consistency in regards to the products they purchase and the level of service they receive.

A powerful, combined product offering

Customers of both businesses continue to benefit from a harmonized offering comprised of the respective portfolios of INEOS Styrolution and INEOS ABS. Complementary examples include Novodur® high gloss high heat ABS from the INEOS Styrolution portfolio and Lustran® Elite low gloss high heat ABS from INEOS ABS.

After bringing these businesses together, INEOS Styrolution boasts a more extensive product range combined with a wider international reach. Original equipment manufacturers and molders alike further benefit from the industry-specific polymer expertise that both companies have contributed across the automotive, healthcare, household, construction and electronics industries.

Alignment with Triple Shift growth strategy

The planned integration also helped drive two key components of INEOS Styrolution’s Triple Shift strategy, namely, bolstering the company’s market position in styrenic specialties and standard ABS, as well expanding the company’s position in higher growth customer industries. Triple Shift further calls for a third component: the expansion of INEOS Styrolution’s global footprint in emerging markets.

Styrolution and INEOS ABS to exhibit at NPE 2015

Representatives from both Styrolution and INEOS ABS will host visitors at the Styrolution booth during NPE, the international plastics trade show and conference held March 23-27 in Orlando, Florida. Visitors can find Styrolution in the OCCC South Hall, Booth 12085.

“After Styrolution became a full-fledged member of INEOS, the integration of our two businesses made perfect sense and presented tremendous opportunities for growth. INEOS Styrolution offers a one-stop styrenics shop to customers. It is something that no other company can offer on this scale and that is powerful for us and our customers.”
Andy Currie, Director, INEOS Capital and Chairman, Styrolution
